* I generally write using the pronouns he/him when referring to narcissists, but females are just as likely to be narcissists or exhibit narcissistic traits. So please don't think just because article uses the word him or he that it could not be a woman in that same role.

So what actually triggers a narcissist to discard you?
Direct from a diagnosed narc-
Yeah, I’m diagnosed. I’ll take a hack at it. And since everyone seems to love lists, I’ll go ahead and make one here.
Digging around in these piles is less than pleasant, but that’s usually good for progress.
Hold on tight, just not to me!!!

1. You weren’t around enough, so I got tired of waiting on you.
It’s a thousand times easier for me to function, when I’m not thinking about where the hell you are.
2. I got bored, so I started keeping you waiting.
Eventually, you got mad, and that definitely didn’t make me like you more than I did before.
3. You did something that pissed me off.
And the worst thing about it is, you didn’t even notice. Way to treat a king, sheesh!
4. Someone else made me feel like a million bucks.
Betty Sue was simply hotter than you, smarter, more fun. Not to mention the fact that we hadn’t had a billion fights already.
5. You become too damaged by the deal.
No longer sweet and caring, patient and understanding. All I could see was the worst of me when I looked at you.
6. You started threatening me with law enforcement.
That made me want to destroy all of your favorite things, which would have only made my predicament worse.
7. You tried to manipulate or control me.
And I’ve never appreciated any of that from anyone. How dare you think that you know better than I do about what’s best for me?
8. You betrayed my trust.
Found yourself on the wrong side of a very important line to me, right after you stepped over it. Go big, and get the hell out of here.
9. I thought you did one of the applicable offenses here.
Which means that I might have brought a fat stack of dynamite, set it down between us, and then threatened to blow our shit to smithereens, at which point you said go right ahead.

10. You threw all my things outside while I was gone.
So, technically… 🤓 when I took what I could and said screw you then, you got dumped. Hard!!
